Each person reacts uniquely to the loss of a loved one. Grief and loss can change an individual’s life, even if they feel well-prepared. Our promise to be there for patients and families throughout the end-of-life journey includes supporting them while they experience grief and loss, both before and after a death. Each member of a patient’s family may receive bereavement services, as well as friends and caregivers and anyone affected by the death.
Seasons provides 13 months of bereavement services for the families and loved ones of every patient we serve, regardless of how long their loved one receives care from our organization. Similar to hospice care, bereavement support is customized to the individual and can support as much or as little as the bereaved require.
What Would Bereavement Care Look Like for Me?
Feelings of confusion, sorrow, anxiety, fear, and anger around a loved one’s death are natural, and can continue for many months. You may not know how to deal with these emotions, but you can turn to Seasons for support, care and help at any time.
We provide help through person-to-person support, memorial services, support groups, and written resources and materials. We also have support that is designed specifically for children, including the Seasons Hospice Foundation’s Camp Kangaroo.
We also provide support as our patients and families may experience anticipatory grief before a death has occurred. We are here to help those we serve through these experiences.
